Star Chores (full version)
This was for a project that I was contracted to write some 4 1/2 minutes of music for a home video project called Star Chores. The guy that contracted me, Justin Blaney, had a client that wanted to create a "home video" with their family acting out a Star Wars-esque plot.
His client was not happy with what I wrote for them because it was not actually John Williams (I was not about to just transcribe Williams scores and take the chance of getting sued. Pretty sure that the client knew about that in the first place too.) And so they sent it back to Justin to rework... twice.
So the resulting movie had my music very underscored (almost non-existant) and they ended up accepting something that had no Star Wars feel but more hip-hop and upbeat cleared tracks that Justin added.
The moral of the story.... his client didn't know what he wanted and was expecting way too much mind reading for what they actually paid for.
Ah well, I like the tunes I wrote and I plan on redeveloping them and stretching them out longer to submit for other projects. So no skin off my back:)
